Intensive care units

Intensive care units are specialist hospital wards that treat and monitor severely ill patients. They can also be hospital entry points for ill or injured patients, which means that visual examination plays a major role in deciding the right treatment. This demands a high level of general illumination as well as good colour rendering.

Arm-mounted examination lights fixed onto wall or ceiling brackets provide the perfect light for intensive therapy units when combined with 500 lux bright general lighting and excellent colour rendering. Cleanroom luminaires with an IP65 rating are ideal in this situation, providing reliable protection against dust and moisture as well as efficiency and easy cleaning.

Glamox offers products with medical approval and SteriTouch® antimicrobial powder coating, which counteracts the growth of bacteria, mould and biofilm. These luminaires’ light sources are also covered with tempered glass, allowing them to successfully withstand rigorous cleaning routines using acetone, alcohol or any other cleaning agent used in hospital wards and intensive care units. The antimicrobial performance of the SteriTouch® coating also remains unaffected by the use of cleaning chemicals.
